Cameron Jones Wins Panasonic Auckland Matchplay Championship
Cameron Jones (North Shore) defeated Ben Taylor (Mt.Maunganui) 5 and 3 in the final of the Panasonic Auckland Matchplay Championship played at the Maungakiekie Golf Club. Two Auckland representatives in Brian Joe (Titirangi) and Jonathon Ratcliffe (Akarana) were defeated in the semi final by Jones and Taylor respectively. Joe defeated Ratcliffe in the play off for 3rd and 4th.
On his way to victory, Jones defeated Nicolai Walynetz (Royal Auckland ) 1 up; local hope Josh Leitch (Maungakiekie) at the 24th hole before downing Joe and Taylor.
