Auckland Womens Interprovincial Team Into Semi Final
The Auckland Women's Provincial Team have progressed to the semi final of the touranment after going through round robin play unbeaten and topping Section 2 of the competition. And it was all six players who contributed to the top finish. Number 1 Cecilia Cho was late arriving at the tournament after endeavouring to defend her title at the Aaron Baddeley Tournament in China.
She was replaced by Ceylon Khoo who won her match in the first round. Ceylon was then called upon in Round 6 to replace Jesse Hamilton who, to her absolute credit, went to the Manager and said she was not playing well enough to remain in the team. Ceylon duly delivered by defeating her opponent 9 and 8 - an impressive "Reserve" performance. Jesse worked on her game in the afternoon and advised she was ready to roll again.
The last round of round robin play against Waikato was always going to be the crunch match as to who was going to top qualify in the section and Auckland got off to a flying start with Larissa Eruera winning 6 and 5 and Wenyung Keh winning 4 and 3. Number 3 Munchin Keh succumbed in a close fought contest 2 and 1 and Jesse Hamilton and Cecilia Cho halved their matches for an Auckland 3 matches to 2 victory.
Auckland therefore topped their section and will play Bay of Plenty in the semi final.
