Good Performance at the Garrard Shield

A depleted Auckland Senior team caused some headaches at the Garrard Shield with two narrow losses to Waikato and Bay of Plenty and a win over Northland. The team was missing five top players, all of whom were named in the Inter Provincial team (Ryan Fox, Fraser Wilkin, Sam An, Jonathon Ratcliffe and Nick Voke.

Credit must go to the young team who fought hard all weekend especially late inclusion Josh Leitch (Maungakiekie) playing at Number 1. He won his first match over Waikato's Leonard Morgan 2 and 1 and then halved against a strong opponent in Northland's Brad Bonnington. He came close to extending his unbeaten record only to see Bay of Plenty's Brad Kendall birdie the lasy hole to beat him 1up.
