Auckland Golf Inc – Strategic Plan
VISION To ensure that golf is seen as the sport of choice for all ages.
MISSION To actively develop, promote and support recreational and competitive golf in the Auckland region to the highest possible standard.
OBJECTIVES
Support member clubs in their endeavour to retain and increase membership.
· Support Clubs in promoting their membership drives.
· Support NZ Golf in their membership campaigns.
· Promotion of 9 Hole Golf at Clubs for both women and men.
Provide appropriate operational support for clubs in the Auckland region.
· Provide a mentoring role supporting Clubs with advice and knowledge.
· Improve communication between AGI and Clubs and Clubs and their members.
· Regular contact with Clubs and their Boards and Management.
· Initiate a meeting with Club General Managers and thereafter meet annually.
Provide support and management of inter-club, District and inter-provincial competitive play.
· Reach a long-term agreement between Clubs and AGI on the format for Inter Club competitions.
· Ensure that AGI is appropriately represented at all Inter Club, District and National events.
· Ensure Clubs know their responsibilities when hosting events.
Increase and retain participation in golf by young adults, both directly through the GDM programme and indirectly through member clubs.
· Appointment of a Golf Development Manager with support to deliver junior programmes to Clubs.
· Encourage Clubs to help young adults make the transition from junior to senior membership.
· Encourage Clubs to promote “Have a Go Days” for juniors and young adults.
· Regular visitations to Clubs to implement and audit junior programmes.
Ensure that Auckland Golf’s governance of the game and the association suits modern social conditions.
· Encourage Clubs to review dress regulations at their Club.
· Ensure a regular exchange of information between Clubs on mutually beneficial issues.
· Ensure Clubs are aware of their obligations on health and safety matters.
· Over time, review AGI’s operational structure.
Ensure the ongoing financial viability of Auckland Golf Inc.
· Actively pursue sponsorships.
· Regular review of budgets and budget preparation.
· Undertake a review of financial accounting procedures.
OUTCOMES Auckland Golf in 2012 will have achieved the following:
· A financially viable association with less reliance on gaming trust funds
· A strong commercial partnership with a lead sponsor of golf in the Auckland region, supported by specific sponsorships of essential services and equipment
· A consensus among member clubs on inter-club competitions for the longer term
· An increase in club membership together with a lowering of the average age of member golfers
· A level of success at inter-provincial and national level that is the envy of other associations
· A healthy and mutually beneficial relationship with NZ Golf.
